Overview

 

Reporting to the Director of Compliance Services in Administrative Systems, the Payment Application and Operation Specialist is responsible for the daily operations application support and related services for the university’s ecommerce function. The candidate needs to have a working knowledge of payment applications, business and technical operations, payment card industry compliance (PCI) standards, payment gateways, card systems, fraud prevention and data security standard.  The Operations Specialist will be part of a cross functional team comprised of members of Administrative Systems , the Office of the Treasurer, the Information Security Office and Information Technology Services. She/he will be the point of contact for payment applications and operations.

 

Responsibilities include:

1.) Ecommerce application and operation support:

·         Remain current with emerging payment technologies and solutions, industry/ higher-ed peers best practices and applicable laws and regulations.

·         Understand the needs of the campus ecommerce community

·         Evaluate payment solutions for implementation in the campus environment including data security in collaboration with the Information Security Office  auditability, and support scope

·         Identify opportunities to introduce payment solutions to improve the customer experience while reducing risks and costs.

·         Evaluate payment application software and vendors. Collaborate with campus merchants for the deployment of payment applications.

·         Help coordinate, collaborate and transmit project requirements with internal/external technical delivery teams  with Information Security Office  and IT services.

·         Become a solution expert for payment application products.

·         Collaborate with IT, the Treasurer’s Office and the Information Security Office toensure integrity and compliance for on-going payment solutions business processes, application system and technical operations, in accordance with the data security standards and requirements of the payment card industry .

 

               2.) Customer support:

·         Visit merchants to perform onsite inspections of the credit card processing environment, and evaluate business needs. 

·         Evaluate merchants’ business models/processes and system requirements for application deployment to enable payment transaction acceptance in compliance with university policy and PCI DSS standards.

·         Provide ongoing support to schools and departments in resolving non-routine problems with payment card system; complete special projects required to ensure continuous improvement of applications to support payment operations and compliance.

·         Set up users and provide application support for online payment applications including Cybersource and Certain event registration.

·         Review use of 3rd party application providers and ensure operational feasibility with payment  requirements.

·         Maintain continuous direct customer contact throughout implementation and after completion making sure resources are aligned and deadlines are met

·         Develop content for the etransactions website.

3.) Vendors coordination:

·         Develop and maintain relationships with vendors including payment gateways, service providers, and consultants.

·         Evaluate vendors services and products, and formulate recommendations to the Etransactions Strategic Advisory Committee for deployment.

·         Develop and maintain the performance metrics for vendors services and products.

·         Working knowledge of the ecommerce application, business and technical operations, applicable laws and regulations, and best practices for maintaining PCI DSS  compliance in a distributed environment

·         Knowledge of payment card acceptance hardware and software and implementation requirements relevant to maintaining compliance.

·         Knowledge of data security standard and requirement for payment card industry.

·         Working knowledge of non card based cashless payment solutions including PayPal and mobile payment solutions.

·         Technical aptitude to acquire a baseline knowledge of the Stanford network environment, how network issues impact payment acceptance, and the ability to clearly articulate issues to senior management.

·         Interest and ability to stay abreast of new payment technology, changing industry practices, and compliance requirements.

·         Strong interpersonal skills required to collaborate in cross institutional project teams in a decentralized environment. 

·         Project planning and business process analysis skills.

·         Strong problem solving skills.

·         Communications skills: ability to summarize and present complex data for senior management to support decision making. 

·         Understanding the institutional context and university policies and procedures.

·         It is a plus and desirable for the candidate to have working knowledge of one or more of the categories from the following list: web application development, software deployment, IT infrastructure/architecture, server and desktop operations, network security and data encryption, system implementation or project management.

Qualifications
 

Relevant Work Experience 
• 3+ years as an ecommerce specialist, business analyst or operation support in one or more of the following areas: ecommerce operations or/and compliance, financial administration, retail/online operations, business analysis and design or business administration.


Education 
• Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics or related field or equivalent experience.
