PayPal is seeking a senior analytics leader who will lead the North America Marketing Analytics team. The analytics team is responsible for supporting the North America Marketing team in developing holistic customer & marketing insights to inform marketing strategy. The team will deeply understand the customer needs, business priorities and translate them into actionable learning agenda that drives development of North America marketing programs and its on-going optimizations. The team leverages all tools in the tool box – research, data, modeling - to develop insights, and understand customer response across all channels to provide actionable recommendation to the marketing team. You will lead a team of 2 managers and 2 senior analysts and an extended team of 2 additional analysts in Chennai reporting to ……. We are looking for a person who is a business leader, who is analytically strong and has a clear record of success helping business grow through data-based learning. Somebody who is passionate about marketing and analytics and believes in data driven performance marketing to drive business growth

 

What You Will Do:
  • Partner with consumer marketing leaders to manage and prioritize inbound requests to drive an insight learning agenda
  • Be a thought leader for new forms of analysis and model techniques that drive performance improving changes to marketing strategic and tactical choices
  • Manage a geographically distributed team towards greater and greater quality deliverables, expanded skills,  and growing needs of data science skills and more
  • Coordinate the knowledge management of the team to move innovative custom analysis, to semi-automation, prototype dashboards, to BI reporting
  • Socialize the efforts of cross-functional team which offer material gains to marketers, including decision science models and targeting audiences, expanded BI reporting that replaces previous marketing analytics deliverables
  • Mentor global analysts on tools, methods, and frameworks for solving problems
  • Time expectations: 50% stakeholder/capacity/deliverable management, 25% methodology development, 25% individual project work, writing code, creating executive summaries
Must have requirements:
  • Has a clear record of success driving business growth through analytics
  • Has expertise in integrating Data, Modeling and Research into insights
  • Is a strong communicator who can translate complex thought into simple, actionable ideas
  • Has 10+ years in performance marketing analytics
  • Has experience in multiple channels such as facebook, search, e-mail, website
  • Has direct management experience of 3+ analysts/managers before for at least 1 full year, ideally for 3+
  • Must demonstrate particular expertise with the classic [requirements gathering] project phase for analytics projects
  • Must have operational experience with project/program managing 5+ concurrent projects, executed by others
  • Has experience negotiating with stakeholders to balance speed, quality, cost, and methodology with deliverables in ways that seek to get collaboratively achieve win-win outcomes
  • Has demonstrated contribution to the knowledge and methodology of most recent employer in the form of internal wikis, Github code, white papers, and/or methodology decks. We need contributors to our knowledge base.
  • Has spent at least 5% or 100 hours in the last year writing SQL, Python, or R, as part of fulfilling projects at latest job

  • Is an expert on executing / utilizing several of these methodologies: AB testing on email. AB testing on banner/app exposures. Universal Control Groups. Last Touch / Multi-Touch Attribution. Creative testing. Time of Day testing. Uplift modeling. Marketing Mix Modeling. Multivariate testing. Website CX testing.
  • Operational experience building recommendations on single or multi-channel frequency management, such as email
  • Operational experience managing inbound request queues and backlogs in order to disposition, optimize, prioritize, route, and execute on analytic projects. Operational discipline will be a key decision criteria on candidates.

Education & Work Experience Requirements:
  • MBA, Quant MA/MS, Strategy or Operations Consulting, or significant analytics track record required
  • 7+ years experience, firmly into their career, with direct management experience
  • Marketing Ad Tech experience in the area of email/audience management by deployed models
