The Senior Manager Business Technology Finance will act as a key link between the Finance and Business Technology organizations and will drive the adoption of Discover’s Technology Business Management program. This position will also provide strategic financial support, budgeting & forecasting, and investment analysis for technology centric initiatives, across the enterprise. This role will support the Application Development, Payment Services, and Enterprise Technology functions. This highly motivated leader will creatively blend their financial skillset and business acumen in order to successfully partner with leadership to set and execute the strategic vision.

Responsible for providing financial and business analysis support for one of Discover’s business units.

Responsibilities

  • Drives revenue-generating and expense efficiency initiatives by understanding business economics and effectively leading and influencing business.
  • Develops financial projections to support planning and investment decisions. Provides advice and financial analyses to leadership for investment decisions, pricing changes, and the development of new products and offers. Monitors and assesses the return on financial investments. Leads an analytical approach to proactively develop insightful financial analyses.
  • Develops and leads financial planning activities, including budgeting, short- and long-term forecasting, and revenue and expense driver analysis.
  • Manages and develops a team of financial analysts to lead and execute the above activities while meeting key timelines.
  • Conducts variance analysis and consolidation activities.
  • Collaborates with business partners (e.g., marketing and operations) to develop robust financial forecasts and drive insightful analysis.
  • Continually improves and streamlines standard work processes.
  • Creates and maintains models to understand long-term profit and loss impacts and drives business decisions.
  • Performs detailed competitive analyses to drive strategic insights and actions.

Skills:Minimum Qualifications

At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in Financial Services, Consulting, Investment Banking, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in people management

Preferred Qualifications

If we had our say, we’d also look for:

  • Master’s Degree in Finance, Business, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in Financial Services, Consulting, Investment Banking, or related field
  • Prior IT Finance and/or TBM (Technology Business Management) experience
  • Apptio or other TBM tool knowledge
  • Project Portfolio Management financial support
  • Development of TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) of Application, Products and Services
  • Experience with Chargebacks, Showbacks and Allocations
  • Promotion and development of TBM strategy
  • Understanding of Application Development lifecycle and delivery methodologies
