UK-based manufacturing company Morgan Advanced Materials revealed on Tuesday that it’s investigating a cybersecurity incident.

The company has launched an investigation after detecting unauthorized activity on its network. The wording suggests that it’s an ongoing security breach.

“Upon becoming aware of the incident, the Company immediately launched an investigation, engaged its specialist support services and has implemented its incident response plans,” Morgan Advanced Materials said.

“Precautionary measures have been taken within its IT infrastructure to contain the incident and actions are being taken to remediate and restore systems,” it added.

The company has not shared any additional information, but based on its brief description, this may have been a ransomware attack.

SecurityWeek has checked the websites of several major ransomware groups, but could not find any mention of Morgan Advanced Materials. On the other hand, if this is an ongoing incident, it’s too early for the company to be named on ransomware leak sites. Victims are typically named and shamed by cybercriminals only after initial negotiations have failed.
