PayIt names Jon Telch VP, Canada

PayIt, the leader in digital customer experience solutions with integrated payments for local and provincial governments, has appointed Jon Telch as Vice President, Canada.

Telch joins the growing team at PayIt’s Canada headquarters and will focus on partnering with government leaders to enable them to deliver modern digital experiences to residents and customers, including the City of Toronto, the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, and the Town of Stouffville.

Telch brings more than 10 years of public sector consulting experience across a diverse range of topics, including environmental protection, First Nations advocacy, technology, international development, and more.

“We are excited for Jon to join the team in a greater capacity; his guidance has been incredibly valuable as we established our Canadian headquarters and business entity,” said John Thomson, Founder and CEO of PayIt. “We are deeply committed to continued expansion in Canada, and to delivering value to its provincial and city governments, the residents they serve, and the broader economy.”

PayIt partners with the City of Toronto to deliver MyToronto Pay, where over 300,000 Torontonians have registered an account since its launch in 2022. MyToronto Pay enables residents and businesses to make secure payments for property tax, utility bills, and parking violations. MyToronto Pay includes features like bill reminders, eBilling, and the ability to save receipts and payment methods. The City of Toronto is launching the MyToronto Pay Pre-Authorized Payments solution this summer starting with utility bills, followed by property tax bills in the fall. Residents will be able to manage their enrolment, payment methods, and instalment plan options at their convenience in Pre-Authorized Payments through MyToronto Pay.

In May 2023, PayIt acquired conservation technology company Sovereign Sportsman Solutions that partners with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry to provide solutions that support complex species management programs. Ontario leverages the PayIt Outdoors platform to accommodate its unique species and programs, including fishing, small and big game species, hunts and tags, and commercial boating and fishing operations. In 2022 alone, the partnership served 625,000 individual hunters and anglers and processed two million transactions representing over $61 million in revenue for the Ministry.

“Through my work with PayIt, I’ve seen the tangible value our partnership brings to agencies and the customers they serve — and I know that our Canadian governments are prioritising digitisation,” said Telch. “I’m looking forward to building on the successes PayIt has achieved in Canada thus far, and I know that we have the right team, technology, and passion to cultivate more successful partnerships.”

Since establishing its Canadian headquarters in 2020, PayIt has added up to 10 new jobs in the Toronto metro area to support the growing regional technology market.
