EMVCo and OpenWallet Foundation ink liaison agreement

EMVCo, the global technical body that helps make secure, reliable and convenient payments possible anywhere in the world, and the OpenWallet Foundation (OWF), the open source project fostering collaboration across industries to create reusable building blocks for secure interoperable wallets, have signed an industry liaison agreement to explore potential collaboration opportunities.

EMVCo creates and manages EMV® Specifications and programmes that enable industry stakeholders to design payment products and solutions that will work seamlessly and securely worldwide. Hundreds of organisations participate as EMVCo Associates and Subscribers to contribute their knowledge and expertise to the development of EMV Specifications, and EMVCo also works closely with global and regional technical bodies and industry associations.

Hosted by Linux Foundation Europe, the OWF provides safe harbor for companies, non-profits, and the public sector to create open source software for interoperable digital wallets together. The industry liaison agreement with EMVCo will help to foster the development of critical components to contribute towards this vision.

“EMVCo is pleased to be collaborating with the Open Wallet Foundation to explore how open digital wallet solutions can support seamless and secure payments globally. This reflects our ongoing commitment to engaging across the industry to promote emerging technologies,” said Joy Huang, EMVCo Executive Committee Chair."EMVCo is a global leader in its field and one of the world’s most respected payments technical bodies. We are honored to enter into an industry liaison agreement and look forward to a future with great open wallets that can help create seamless and secure payments" said Daniel Goldscheider, Founder and Executive Director of the OpenWallet Foundation.
