PayPal-Powered Merchant Spotlight: Lily Boutique

Chris Morse, Head of Merchant Communications, PayPal

lily.jpgJulie Kotter has always had a passion for fashion, but she didn’t love having to break the bank to get her hands on the latest trends. That’s why she opened Lily Boutique, an online store specializing in affordable clothing, shoes, and accessories. She’s very mindful about her target customers’ desired price points and lists many of her items around $50, using PayPal to give her customers a fast, easy way to get the look for less.

With the holiday shopping season in full swing and holiday sales expected to hit $616.9 billion, up 4.1 percent from 2013, Julie is primed to take advantage of this busy time of year. Customers start shopping as early as November, which helps account for Lily Boutique’s nearly double-digit growth during the holidays. And her customers aren’t just shopping for gifts, but also scene-stealing party dresses in holiday colors like red, green and gold.

Julie credits her company’s uptick in sales to offering shoppers the ability to pay with PayPal. She also chose PayPal to process all of Lily Boutique’s credit card transactions saying, “The highly competitive transaction processing fees helped save us money over other companies we looked into.” She estimates that the online boutique gets at least 15 percent more business simply by offering PayPal at checkout. Plus, detailed PayPal financial and merchant account statements makes bookkeeping a breeze for Julie, enabling her to see how the business has grown month to month and year over year.
