PayPal Brings Fingerprint Authentication to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S

original.jpegIt’s been quite a year for biometric technology. Developers and leading manufacturers have been exploring how they can use biometric technology to simplify how people go about their daily lives in more secure and convenient ways. Using biometrics to revolutionize how people shop and pay has been top of mind for us at PayPal.

Today we are excited to share that we are extending our support for fingerprint authentication to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S. Just like our app for the Galaxy S5, Galaxy Tab S users will be able to use their fingerprint to log in and pay at millions of merchants that accept PayPal on mobile and in stores – with no passwords or logins. This is a big deal because Forrester predicts consumers will spend $76 billion this year on goods and services shopping on tablets. So, we’d like to make peoples’ shopping experiences as easy as possible.

Our collaboration with Samsung means you can get convenience without sacrificing security across multiple devices, whether they are using a Samsung Galaxy S5 Smartphone or a Galaxy Tab S tablet.

PayPal fingerprint authentication on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S is rolling out across 27 markets globally. United States and Canada will start today and additional markets – including Australia, Brazil, Hong Kong, and United Kingdom – will follow this summer.

Maybe you’re finally making the move to a new tablet. Or maybe you’re joining the 42% of U.S. adults who own a tablet by purchasing one. If so… Galaxy Tab S users will get over $50 worth of offers to use at select businesses that accept PayPal so that you can get the most out of your shopping experience on your new tablet.  Enjoy!
