Last week, with events in Paris, Berlin, Vienna, Zurich and Brussels, Netflix celebrated its arrival in six new European countries, taking the total number of countries it now covers to 47. Starting immediately in France, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg, fans of TV and film can log on to Netflix.com or download the Netflix app to their tablet or smartphone and watch as much as they want, wherever or whenever they want.

PayPal had the opportunity to attend several of these glittering events thanks to our long-standing partnership with Netflix. When a new member signs up to Netflix in any country they see the option to pay with PayPal. It’s an obvious choice. Why waste time filling in payment forms with all that great content to watch? Choose PayPal, enter your username and password and let PayPal do the work. We will authorise your transaction without sharing your financial details, so that’s one less place where your credit card or bank details are being stored.

But it’s not just the ease with which our technology fits together that makes us great partners. Netflix, like PayPal, is a pioneer in the People Powered Economy.

Netflix saw that people didn’t want to be limited to the schedules set by TV companies. This is the mobile generation. They want to choose their own content and watch it when and how it suits them. Netflix is changing the way we think about TV, just as PayPal is changing the way we think about money. It’s not about technology, it’s about people getting more of what we want and less of what we don’t. We are all individuals and we like different things. PayPal and Netflix understand that and we want to give you the chance to have things your way. It’s People Rule!

Vive le Differencé, as they say in France.

Now, how about a TV marathon of Breaking Bad?
