PANELISTS David Lott Payments Risk Expert at Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta Dave Lott is a Retail Payments Expert with the Retail Payments Risk Forum of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and has more than 35 years of experience in the Retail Banking and Payments industries. As part of the team at the Retail Payments Risk Forum, Dave works with payments stakeholders in researching payment systems and products, focusing on risks and mitigating strategies. A key area of focus for his present work is customer, transaction and data security issues. As such, Dave has done considerable work with the wide range of card and payment technologies including biometrics, tokenization and encryption for cards, mobile devices including tablets, phones, other payment form factors, and their various delivery channels including ATMs, ecommerce and call centers. Dave works with representatives from the Federal Reserve Bank in Boston in facilitating the meetings of the Mobile Payments Industry Workgroup. He is a representative of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta in several inter-agency and intra-Federal Reserve System working groups. ![]() Brett McDowell Executive Director at The FIDO Alliance Brett McDowell is the Executive Director of the FIDO Alliance, the organization he helped establish in 2012 to remove the world’s dependency on passwords through open standards for strong authentication. Previously, he was Head of Ecosystem Security at PayPal, where he developed strategies and lead programs to make the Internet safer for PayPal and their customers. Mr. McDowell has extensive experience leading multi-stakeholder cybersecurity initiatives, having held various leadership roles in NSTIC IDESG, DMARC.org, M3AAWG, National Cyber Security Alliance, StopBadWare.org, Kantara Initiative, and Liberty Alliance Project. Mr. McDowell is a Fellow at the National Center for Digital Government at the University of Massachusetts. ![]() Vijay Balasubramaniyan Co-Founder, CEO & CTO at Pindrop Vijay Balasubramaniyan is Co-Founder, CEO & CTO of Pindrop. He’s held various engineering and research roles with Google, Siemens, IBM Research and Intel. Vijay holds patents in VoIP security and scalability and he frequently speaks on phone fraud threats at technical conferences, including RSA, Black Hat, FS-ISAC, CCS and ICDCS. Vijay earned a PhD in Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology. His PhD thesis was on telecommunications security. ![]() MODERATOR Philip Andreae Principal at Philip Andreae & Associates Philip Andreae is a seasoned executive and strategic thinker, who has focused on leading edge technologies that enables the products and services of the Financial Industry, on a Global Scale. Philip began his career as a technologist focusing on cash management services and the digitization of commerce. He then went on to integrate voice, video and digital technologies into trading rooms on Wall Street and the City of London. In 1991 Philip shifted his focus to the world of consumer payments and drove the development of the technologies and security necessary to digitize card payments. Most recently, as we each embrace the digital and connected reality of our world, Philip has begun to think about four words: Identity, Identification, Authentication and Authorization and how in a virtual world we must develop solutions that are both convenient and secure. Recently Philip decided to embrace his passion and is restarting his strategic consult business – Philip Andreae & Associates. The goal of PA&A is to focus on mentoring organizations and leading their thinking as they consider the ecosystems of payments, digital credentials, authentication and security; with a focus on convenience and the customer experience Prior to restarting PA&A Philip was Vice President, Field Marketing Payment, Oberthur Technologies of North America. In this role his focus was on provides prospects and clients an in-depth understanding of identity, identification, authentication and authorization; specifically as it relates to payments. Given his history as one of the original executives responsible for the development of the EMV specification he has been instrumental in helping the US market migrate from magnetic stripe to Chip Cards and digital credentials in mobile devices and things. One of Philip’s other duties was to operate as the Secretary of the Board of the FIDO Alliance with responsibilities to help guide in the development and deployment of the replacement of passwords. Most recently he was also asked to join the Mobile Payment Industry Working group the Federal Reserve of Atlanta and Boston manage. ![]() |
