Dec. 18, 2018

Citi Treasury and Trade Solutions have announced that biometric authentication is undergoing pilot tests in key markets for the CitiDirect BE desktop and mobile online trading platforms, allowing customers to confirm identities using fingerprints or facial recognition on mobile apps or securely login on their desktop systems.

The CitiDirect service allows institutional clients to access a full range of trading services, including cash, trade, liquidity and investment services, according to a press release. The service allows clients to authenticate their identities without the need to get codes from tokens that generate passwords, making the process much faster.

CitiDirect BE is available in 95 countries around the world using 135 different currencies and 26 different languages, according to the release.

Dec. 17, 2018

Conduent Transportation has been selected by Flemish public transit operator De Lijn to install a next generation fare system using contactless payment in 100,000 buses and trams, marking one of the largest such deployments ever in Europe, according to a company release.

Conduent, a unit of Florham Park, N.J.-based Conduent Inc., will deploy and operate its Atlas fare system over a period of 10 years under the agreement.

The first phase, starting in 2019, will involve the use of public transport operator payment cards and bank cards based on contactless EMV pay-as-you-go models.

The second phase, starting in 2020, will involve account-based ticketing, where the the ticket is store in the cloud, as opposed to a device like a smartcard or mobile device.

The ABT technology allows the device to be connected to the account through a back-office system that connects to the cloud. The system will eventually connect to mobility-as-a-service deployments like bike hire, taxis and ride-sharing, according to the company.

Conduent announced agreements in November to upgrade public transit systems in Calgary and Rotterdam, and signed an extension to upgrade expressway tolls in Los Angeles County.

JB Financial Group has entered into an agreement with Indonesia's CIMB Niaga commercial bank and Mitra Jasa Lima to offer its open banking platform in that country, according to a company release.

JB Financial, based in South Korea, originally launched Obank, its open banking platform in 2017, allowing various fintech companies to use open API's to develop new financial services. The platform can be used for a range of financial services, including peer-to-peer lending, bill payment and international funds transfer, according to the release.

The platform is expected to help more than 1,600 local banks in Indonesia expand their financial offerings, Roberto Akyuwen, deputy commissioner of banking supervisor at the Indonesia Financial Supervisory Authority, said in the release.

The collaboration is scheduled to begin in Jakarta and surrounding areas in early 2019 and later expand to the rest of the country.
