Chase, Marriott to unveil contactless credit card under loyalty rebrand

Marriott International and Chase Card Services are rebranding their co-branded credit card to a contactless card called the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card, which is part of a larger rebranding of the Marriott Rewards loyalty program.

Marriott is replacing its Marriott, Ritz Carlton and Starwood rewards programs under the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty brand starting Feb. 13, according to a press release.

The card will have tap-and-go functionality, which allows users to pay without swiping a magstripe reader and includes EMV technology, which helps reduce fraud.

Among the perks for cardholders will be special merchant offers and the ability to lock and unlock the card through the Chase mobile app.

"The Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card is packed with perks — including high earn potential, thousands of places to stay under the new Marriott Bonvoy program, ways to get Elite status faster and unique offers — all with a new look, name and easier way to pay with contactless," Leslie Gillin, president, Chase Co-Brand Cards, said in the release.

Swift Prepaid partners with Bitty Advance on small business funding

Swift Prepaid Solutions is teaming up with Bitty Advance to support the company's advance funding service for small businesses, according to a press release.

Bitty operates Bitty Advance Line, which provides direct advances of up to $10,000 for small businesses through a prepaid card. Swift will allow small businesses to get virtual advance payments that can be transferred to Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay mobile wallets, according to the release.

Swift can also facilitate transfer of the funds directly to business debit cards. Swift offers virtual and physical cards from Visa Direct as part of the partnership.

"Direct funders need a flexible, scalable and compliant global platform as consumers look to optimize services they once received from traditional financial institutions," said Patrick Crosson, vice president of sales, emerging markets at Swift Prepaid Solutions, in the release.

EasyPark, Fortumo expand parking with direct carrier billing to Slovenia

EasyPark Group and Fortumo are expanding their service, which allows payment for parking through direct carrier billing, into Slovenia.

The service lets drivers charge parking fees directly through mobile phone accounts on Telekom Slovenije A1 or Telemach bills, according to a press release.

"Paying for parking with carrier billing gives the greatest convenience to locals and makes it accessible to anyone," said Andrea Boetti, vice president of global business development at Fortumo, in the release.

The expansion marks the fourth country the two companies are offering the service, following deals in Finland, Norway and Sweden in 2018.

The parking fee is deducted from a prepaid account or for regular monthly accounts, the charges are added to the monthly bill, according to release.

Apple Pay expands to Taco Bell, Jack in the Box

Apple has added several partners to its Apple Pay service, including quick service chains Taco Bell and Jack in the Box, which means the mobile payment platform is now in 74 of the nation's top 100 merchants, according to a press release.

Apple Pay is rolling out to 7,000 Taco Bell and 2,200 Jack in the Box locations.

Apple Pay is also adding Speedway convenience stores, Hy-Vee supermarkets and Target, which is part of a larger rollout of mobile checkout at the department store chain. Customers will be able to use Apple Pay inside the store at 3,000 Speedway locations and 245 Hy-Vee stores.

"Whether customers are buying everyday household items, groceries, snacks for a road trip or grabbing a quick meal, Apple Pay is the easiest way to pay in stores, while also being secure and faster than using a credit or debit card at the register," said Jennifer Bailey, vice president of internet services at Apple, in the release.
