Grange Insurance offers enhanced consumer coverage against cyber attack

Grange Insurance announced will offer consumers expanded coverage against hacking threats through its new Home Cyber Protection coverage.

The company has previously offered insurance to protect a customer’s identity if they were the victims of an attack, but the expanding coverage is designed to protect home systems that use connected devices and smartphones, according to a press release.

The company released a survey in October showing that households, on average, had about six connected devices at home and 65 percent of consumers were planning to add more. The study also revealed 81 percent use public Wi Fi networks and most accessed those networks with a mobile phone.

The expanded coverage offers the following:

It helps remove malware and reprograms computers, tablets, Wi-Fi routers and other access points.Restores smart home devices, including smart phones, thermostats, smart appliances and security systems.Protects against cyber extortion and will pay ransom if a customer is a victim of a ransomware attack upon approval.Assists with losses due to online fraud, including phishing attacks, illegal bank transfers, forgery and counterfeit currency.Helps recover files and data lost in a data breach, including forensic IT and legal review and recovery.

Walmart launches Dotcom store technology to allow in-store website orders

Walmart is deploying a Dotcom store service that allows in-store customers to buy items on Walmart.com, with the help of store associates who can place orders on their handheld touchscreen devices, according to a news release.

The service lets customers pay for items via cash, check, credit, debit or Walmart Pay and have them shipped directly to the customer home or store location, according to the release. The service is now available in all of Walmart’s 4,700 stores and will be offered year-around.

"The Dotcom store offers customers even more assortment options than what’s on our physical shelves — whether that be different sizes, colors or varieties," said Tom Ward, senior vice iof digital and central operations," Walmart US in the release.

After ordering the item through an associate, customers get a printed ticket or email or text with a barcode and can pay at any in-store register. After paying for the item, the shipment process begins.

The Dotcom store app includes all items sold and shipped by Walmart, however the company plans to add marketplace items to the app in the future. The app is not available in Arkansas, Hawaii and Puerto Rico, according to the release.

Bancontact Payconiq, myPOS Europe enhance partnership for online payments

An enhanced agreement between myPOS Europe Ltd. and Belgium’s Bancontact Payconiq Co. announced today means myPOS clients can accept online payments from Bancontact cards using PayButton, PayLink or myPOS checkout, according to a press release.

Bancontact is the most popular electronic payments service in Belgium and processes debit card payments through shops, gas stations, vending machines and online purchases. Bancontact, in March 2018, merged with mobile payments platform Payconiq to form the new company.

The myPOS partnership began in 2017 when myPOS devices located across the EEA began to accept Bancontact card payments, according to the release. In an average month, myPOS processes about 38,000 Bancontact payments across more than 20 different European countries.

RGK Mobile enters Latin America market with new payment options

RGK Mobile, a Barcelona-based provider of mobile payments, has entered an agreement with Mexico-based Claro Mobile, covering service in parts of Central America and South America and Tigo Mobile, covering El Salvador and Honduras.

RGK, which has been focused on the European and Asia Pacific markets, said the agreements brokered through carrier technology aggregator Aldeamo, represents a major expansion of its business, according to a press release. The Claro deal will expand its business into Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Ecuador.

RGK technology allows customers to make purchases over mobile devices directly through mobile phone bills, eliminating the need to use credit card payments. The company will provide SMS billing capabilities to Claro and Tigo.

The carriers will also get access to a dancing video service called "Let’s Me Dance" and a gaming platform called "Sunny Games."
