Payments firms make C-suite changes

In addition to new CEO appointments at Visa and Marqeta, payments companies Paysend, AvidXchange, TreviPay and LeafLink recently installed new executives

The new year has ushered in a flurry of executive appointments at payments companies large and small. Visa and virtual card issuance fintech Marqeta each had new CEOs take the helm this week. Visa CEO Ryan McInerney tapped a new team of executives as he shifted into the chief executive role.

AvidXchange, the accounts payable automation company, has promoted Dan Drees to president and appointed James Sutton as chief revenue officer, the company announced on Tuesday. While Drees will manage the Charlotte, North Carolina-based company’s sales, marketing, product and overall operations, Sutton will oversee its buyer and supplier-customer sales tasks.

“As we seek to advance our market leading position in AP and payments automation for the middle market, I believe the time is right to adapt our organizational structure for greater speed and flexibility in order to execute the next phase of our growth strategy along with a committed path toward profitability,” Michael Praeger, co-founder and CEO of AvidXchange, said in a statement.

Alongside the other companies reshaping their executive teams, London-based Checkout.com named Céline Dufétel, previously the company’s CFO and COO, as its new president and chief operating officer, and Nirupam Sinha will now become the company’s CFO, according to an emailed statement. As president and COO, Dufétel will manage the company’s operational and go-to-market employees, including its marketing and finance staff, the company said.

TreviPay, the business-to-business payments and invoicing provider, has named Allen Bonde its new chief marketing officer, the company announced Jan. 24. Before joining Overland Park, Kansas-based TreviPay, Bonde was also the chief marketer for Synthesio and vice president and research director for Forrester’s digital transformation practice, per the announcement.

“As merchants continue to re-evaluate business models to determine how to best digitize processes for the business buyer, TreviPay is thrilled to have Allen’s breadth of experience in emerging technology and digital platforms,” Brandon Spear, CEO of TreviPay, said in a statement. “Allen adds dynamic leadership as TreviPay continues to expand its order-to-cash technology offerings and B2B payments networks.”

Personal finance app Stash also announced Thursday that it appointed Liza Landsman to be its new CEO effective Feb. 6, replacing its former chief executive Brandon Krieg. Krieg is transitioning to the New York-based company’s head of business development, where he will manage business-to-business operations, the company said in an emailed statement to Payments Dive.
