The retailer's partnership with Piston lets professional drivers initiate a fuel payment via QR or authorization codes

Maverik has been giving professional drivers plenty of payments options at its pumps in recent years in an effort to make its sites more attractive for fleets. In addition to Piston, the retailer has also added cardless payments platform Relay as well as fleet cards from TransConnect Services and Comdata.

The convenience store operator has also partnered with technology company TruckSmarter to offer fuel savings to truck and RV drivers.

"Fueling hasn't changed in decades, and plastic cards were never designed for the way fleets operate today," said Vikram Sekhon, co-founder and CEO of Piston. "By verifying drivers and vehicles in real time, we close the door on fraud while giving fleets and merchants the transparency and control they've been missing.”

Piston provides drivers and fleet owners with fraud protection, digital receipts and more visibility into vehicle usage. The payments company is also earmarking resources to help the Maverik cardless launch and make the experience smooth for initial customers.
