Fiserv, Amazon link rewards programs

The new offering is available to card holders through 200 financial institutions, with an expansion of the partnership expected by the end of the year

Payments processor Fiserv is allowing credit and debit card members of its rewards program to redeem points for purchases through e-commerce giant Amazon’s website or app, Fiserv said in a press release Thursday.

Customers who wish to participate must link their Fiserv and Amazon reward program memberships to take advantage of the partnership. The new offering is available for cards through some 200 financial institutions, with more expected by the end of the year, according to the release.

Also this week, Fiserv posted a 23% second-quarter increase in revenue from its Clover point-of-sale business, the company said during a second-quarter earnings call on Wednesday. Also discussed during the call was the sale of a Fiserv reconciliation business to Trintech, a financial reconciliation services provider.

The reconciliation was sold for approximately $230 million, according to slides presented during the earnings call.

The Brookfield, Wisconsin-based company plans to keep growing through mergers and acquisitions, CEO Frank Bisignano said at a conference in June. “You should expect us to do things like that,” Bisignano said at the conference.
