Irish fintech eComm Merchant Solutions has announced an agreement with the Taxi Alliance of Ireland to equip Dublin taxicabs with new in-car payment terminals.
The agreement will allow passengers to pay with credit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express and digital wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay, according to Gerry Macken, chairman of the Taxi Alliance said in a company release from eComm Merchant Solutions.
"With this initiative we have brought a one-stop-shop solution to the drivers, providing fast settlement times, competitive rates and all supported by our local call centre in Ireland," Dominic Higgins, commercial director at eComm Merchant Solutions, said in the release.
Higgins said he expects that passengers will be able to taxi without cash at other locations across the country.

Juniper Research has issued a new report showing that B2B transactions processed by pure-play digital operators will reach $14 trillion by the year 2023, an increase of $6.7 trillion compared with 2018 figures.
The report shows that these new entrant fintechs are providing companies the ability to process these transactions faster and at lower cost than traditional banks, and the more established banking companies are reluctant to make the investment to upgrade their legacy computer systems to handle these transactions.
The report shows that new entrant firms like Modulr or Soldo can enter this business without any legacy computer systems and provide real-time payments technology that integrates with corporate accounting software.
The report also named the top five payment processors:

Visa and Sabre Corp. have announced an agreement that will allow travel buyers and suppliers to make and receive payments with virtual corporate cards through the Sabre Virtual Payments solution.
"Bringing together Visa's leadership position in digital B2B payments and Sabre's virtual payments technology and global network of customers represents a tremendous opportunity to increase the adoption of virtual B2B payments in the travel industry," Sabre President Wade Jones said in the announcement.
Kevin Phalen, global head of Visa Business Solutions, said the agreement will help streamline cashflow and financial management for companies.

CarGurus, a mobile buying platform for new and used vehicles, has announced a partnership with Capital One Auto Finance to allow buyers to prequalify for financing before entering a dealership.
The program will roll out in the coming weeks to about 10,000 dealerships that work with CarGurus and Capital One.
Eligible shoppers can use the "view financing options" through the app without affecting their credit scores. Additionally, they can see rates and monthly payments and then go to a dealership to complete their financing application.
"CarGurus' partnership with Capital One Auto Finance allows car shoppers to expedite their purchase from their mobile device or computer, before they walk into the dealership," Tom Caputo, chief product officer at CarGurus, said in the announcement. "As a trusted automotive shopping leader to both shoppers and dealers, CarGurus believes that providing visibility into financing not only gives consumers the information they need to make a purchase decision, but also creates a more seamless, efficient experience at the dealership."
CarGurus said it is the largest automotive marketplace in the U.S. based on unique monthly visitors measured by Comscore.

Many retailers continue to use old payment systems and outdated technology – legacy systems – because they are hesitant to take on the unknowns of a new payment platform. One of the major downsides to sticking with these traditional systems is the negative impact they can have on your business’s bottom line.
