Cisco on Tuesday announced the launch of a security solution for the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) that is designed to help organizations identify threats across their IT and OT environments.
Cisco on Tuesday announced the launch of a security solution for the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) that is designed to help organizations identify threats across their IT and OT environments.
The networking giant’s new IoT solution, which includes Cisco Cyber Vision and Cisco Edge Intelligence software-based services, provides enhanced visibility, analytics, automation, and security.
Cisco Cyber Vision, which combines end-to-end security and data management, provides threat detection capabilities powered by Cisco’s Talos intelligence group. It can analyze traffic from assets and creates segmentation policies for the Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) and DNA Center in an effort to prevent attackers from moving laterally in operational environments.
“Cisco Cyber Vision is integrated with Cisco’s IT security portfolio, bringing detailed information on OT assets and industrial threat detection to Cisco NGFW firewalls, Identity Services Engine for access control and segmentation, and network traffic analysis using Stealthwatch to provide the necessary context to IT security teams,” Cisco’s Vikas Butaney explained in a blog post. “Cisco Cyber Vision also integrates with leading SIEM platforms, such as IBM QRadar and Splunk, so you can collect all OT events in your IT SOC and build a unified IT-OT security program.”
Cisco told SecurityWeek that Cyber Vision is available immediately as a subscription model, with pricing based on the number of endpoints connected and how much hardware might be needed. It can run on a Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) server, the IC3000 industrial compute gateway, or a virtual machine.
Cisco Edge Intelligence is designed to give organizations more control over their data. The service includes a set of connectors that allow customers to extract data from their machines, tools for performing edge analytics for their operations, and the ability to govern the flow of IoT data at a granular level before it leaves the OT environment.
Edge Intelligence has also been integrated with other applications and platforms in an effort to make it easier for users to share data.
