Principal Auditor- Global Finance

 

Corporate Audit Services (CAS), the Internal Audit function within Capital One, is a dedicated group of audit professionals focused on delivering top quality assurance services to the organization’s Audit Committee. The CAS department is considered one of the leading internal audit functions within the financial services industry and is highly regarded within Capital One. CAS professionals are experienced, well-trained and credentialed, and operate within a collaborative, agile environment to deliver value-added opinions and recommendations. CAS is seeking an energetic, self-motivated Principal Auditor to join the Corporate Audit Services team. The Principal Auditor will perform professional internal auditing work that involves leveraging analytic and technical skills to innovate, build, and maintain well-managed data solutions and capabilities to conduct financial and regulatory reporting audit projects. The Principal Auditor will be responsible for maintaining all organizational and professional ethical standards.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Act as key data lead to leverage versatile technical capabilities to drive the development, evolution, and implementation of data focused audit approach.

  • Evaluate data management, data quality and data access processes for gaps, inefficiencies and opportunities; provide recommendations for improvement.

  • Assist with the implementation of continuous monitoring programs, including key performance metrics and analyses to identify data anomalies.

  • Perform key components of audit engagements under the supervision of the auditor- in-charge.  Perform risk assessments of business activities, potential exposures and the materiality of loss. Design and perform appropriate audit procedures to verify the effectiveness of controls.

  • Design and execute internal control testing for operations of moderate complexity. Perform and often plan audit tasks of moderate difficulty, demonstrating a degree of audit expertise consistent with experience level.

  • Leverage available data and analytical tools during the planning, fieldwork, and reporting phases of audit delivery.

  • Establish and maintain good client relations during engagements.

  • Begin communicating the results of some audit projects to management via written reports and oral presentations.

  • Degree specialized in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics discipline

  • Scripting experience in (Python, Perl, JavaScript, Shell)

  • Strong desire and experience with data in various forms (data warehouses/SQL, unstructured data environments)

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience

  • At least 3 years of experience auditing, at least 3 years of experience in accounting, at least 3 years of experience in financial analysis, at least 3 years of experience in risk management, or a combination.

 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)

  • Master’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics discipline

  • 4+ years’ experience working BI reporting tools (i.e. Tableau and Business Objects) 4+ years of experience working within process management and improvement methodologies – Lean, Six Sigma, etc

  • 2+ years of experience in banking, 2+ years of experience in financial services, or 2+ years in a professional services firm serving clients in large banks

  • 4+ years of experience with data analytics tools in support of internal audit
