Job & Group Description:

The Global Spread Products (GSP) business is comprised of ~$4 billion in annual revenues and consists of the following product lines: Flow Trading, Municipal Public Finance & Trading, Structured Products, and Loan Origination & Finance.  The GSP finance team works closely with the products, regions, and functions within the business to provide financial and analytical support and help the business make key strategic decisions.  The Global Spread Products Finance team supplies the Global Markets LFO, FICC FO, Heads of the various Spread product businesses and other senior management (Global Markets Leadership, ICG CFO, CEO etc.) with analysis and insight into Spread Products financial results and projections. Through this analysis, the team facilitates decision making to drive performance and strategy of global products, regions and functions, and also for use with external analysts, regulators and investors.

 

The role requires a strong analytical approach to client, product and financial strategy together with leadership skills that significantly rely on influence and building strong partnerships to execute business and financial plans in a systematic, measurable, and effective way. The ideal candidate should demonstrate proven ability to work together with multiple stakeholders across Markets, Finance, Functions, Operations and Technology. The candidate must be able to work effectively in a cross-functional environment and with colleagues who may not be in the same geographic location.



Reporting Structure:
The VP will report to the FP&A Group Manager of Global Spread Products

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the group manager to develop the formulation of annual business plans, interim outlooks, mid-year forecast, CCAR submission, etc. Coverage will include analysis of revenues, expenses, balance sheet, interest rates, RWA, etc.

    • Work with business to establish and track key performance indicators; Produce global summaries for the business leadership and finance officer providing meaningful commentary of the drivers of financial trends in order to steer decision making

    • Articulate the story on the business’ financial performance at month and quarter-end to support Markets Lead Finance Officer, Investor Relations and other constituents in developing the business performance summary

    • Partner with the business, Loans work-stream, and Controllers teams to understand drivers of Assets

    • Engage with the expense work-stream to provide detailed expense analysis to the business to help understand expense drivers and assist in optimizing expense base

    • Partner with various constituents, including Enterprise, Infrastructure, Operations and Technology, to understand and provide transparency to business on expense allocations and relay knowledge of business drivers to partners

    • Work with the Planning & Analysis work-stream team on competitor analysis to better understand the external landscape, identify addressable gaps and incorporate goals into overall strategic plan

    • Ad-hoc projects to optimize inefficiencies or provide more automated analysis to finance and business audiences

    • Other ad-hoc analysis and presentations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, or related field
    • Strong understanding of Markets trading businesses
      • Strong financial management reporting system knowledge with drive and ability to continuously develop and improve processes
        • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience of financial analysis in a large corporate environment
          • Strong ability to build key relationships with senior finance and other business executives
      • Strong skills in Excel and Power Point
      • Attention to detail / high levels of accuracy is crucial
      • Excellent communications skills (written / verbal) at all organizational levels
      • Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously
      • Ability to manage and prioritize own workload effectively, resolve conflicting priorities, and multi-task
      • Results / Task orientated
      • Excel, PowerPoint and MIS applications
