Global Product Marketing Manager - SONY

Sony Biotechnology, located in San Jose, CA is seeking a Global Product Marketing Manager to join their group. The position will be responsible formanaging a family of products across the product lifecycle to maximize sales revenues, grow market share, and increase profit margins. The ideal candidate will possess a firm understanding of customers’ use of flow cytometers and have familiarity with a wide range of scientific applications that use flow cytometry.

Responsibilities

Be the source for domain information and serve as the proxy for the global customer base for members of the product development team. The ideal candidate will bring a breadth of experience and domain knowledge.

  • Act as a bridge between product development, commercial sales teams and operations.
    • Conduct market research, attend conferences and meet with customers directly to understand any product issues and customer preferences.
      • Mapping customer requirements to potential new features and functions of products and for communicating those requirements in Market Requirement Documents to the development teams.

        • Establish pricing and manage product margins.

  • Define the relevant target market segments, drivers and moderators for product adoption in those segments and possess a solid understanding of the buying process utilized by each segment across geographies.
  • Keep evaluating the market for signals that may become drivers of future product or service opportunities.
  • Keep abreast of competitive activities and products and take ownership of competitive intelligence in their product area.
  • Work with product development teams to set priorities for product enhancements to maintain competitiveness and address issues.
  • Develop product positioning and a go to market strategy which includes providing input for the development of communications materials for commercial activities such as brochures and sales presentations and demonstration scripts and with technical accuracy of all customer facing materials.
  • Manage and support commercial activities of direct and indirect sales teams including developing and delivering product training and responding promptly to queries about products.
  • Represent products in numerous commercial settings including seminars, trade shows and events and in direct customer communications.
    • Up to 25% of domestic/international travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • A firm understanding of customers’ use of flow cytometers and familiarity with a wide range of scientific applications.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in marketing/ commercial environment or related field.
  • An advanced degree in a scientific discipline or a Master’s Degree in Business Administration required. Must possess laboratory experience in the relevant field using flow cytometry.
  • Must have solid oral and written communications skills and have experience in competitive analysis.
  • Must possess knowledge of the core marketing responsibilities and business processes along with well-developed time management skills (prioritizes among multiple projects).
  • Responsible for analysis, planning, implementation of strategy and tactical programs.
  • Assists in sales meeting planning and tactical execution.
