Finance Director - Windows Planning, Pricing & Growth - Microsoft

The Windows, IP, and Office Consumer Finance team drives shareholder value by developing long-term growth plans and managing near-term execution of the Modern Life, OEM and Windows Commercial business and product portfolio. We are looking for a Finance Director with drive and passion for the evolving device, services and commerce landscape to lead our Windows Planning, Pricing and Growth Team.

Responsibilities

The Finance Director, Windows Planning, Pricing and Growth will be responsible for developing   long-range plans to drive growth and partnering in shaping the strategy imperatives of the $20B Windows business encompassing OEM Devices, Windows Commercial, Windows IoT, Fully Packaged Product and Windows Store. This role is a key leadership position within the team and will partner with sales, marketing, engineering, and finance leadership to drive the Windows growth story. Building on a thorough understanding of the Windows business model across device licensing, commercial and commerce, this individual will play a significant role in shaping the go-forward business strategy and pricing for Windows products as well as the role they play in supporting cloud growth and end user engagement. This individual will be responsible for leading a team of finance professionals who drive planning and pricing for specific parts of the Windows businesses.This is a highly visible role that drives huge long-term impact for the business, and hence experience in business planning/execution, dealing with ambiguity, collaboration, and communication and presentation skills (both written and in-person) are key prerequisites. Ability to influence senior executives with a clear and compelling narrative is essential. Experience in managing and guiding a team of diverse finance professionals as well as a history of demonstrated success in similar past roles are necessary. Key areas of responsibility include:Business Partnership:Provide leadership to drive alignment, consensus and decision making around all growth initiatives, licensing and pricing changes and investment decisions, including M&A, that impact Windows in partnership with sales, marketing, planning, business development, and engineering teams.
Develop out-year long-range growth plans for the Windows business that incorporate the impact of evolving strategy, incubation initiatives, pricing evolution and product roadmap, and obtain buy-in into plans from a diverse group of stakeholders.
Business and Finance Process Excellence/Business Enablement and Compliance:Ensure that key business decisions are reflected in short and long-term financial plans through effective partnership with finance teams responsible for in-year performance management and execution
Partner with the Controls & Compliance team as well as Corporate Accounting to ensure that new business models are rolled out in a compliant manner
 Inspired TeamLead a team of three that covers an array of products and experiences
Attract consistently great talent to the team and grow talent by challenging individuals to expand the scope of their current roles
Drive a culture of diversity and inclusion ensuring every individual is recognized for the value they bring to the team
Build a learning culture by developing a feedback loop to understand impact of prior decisions to inform future courses of action
Key leader in supporting the culture and impact of the director and management community within EDG Finance

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance / Business, Accounting or Economics
MBA preferred
10+ years’ experience in Finance roles of progressive seniority with a focus on business planning in ambiguous scenarios
5+ years leadership and people management experience with demonstrated excellence
5+ years Executive communication and presentation experience
