Job Summary

We currently have a great opportunity for a Finance Coordinator for our operations in Latam. This position reports to our Finance Manager - Community Programs.  This position will be located in Mexico City. The successful candidate will be highly accountable, detail-oriented, self-motivated, comfortable making decisions, proactive, and have a demonstrated ability to quickly establish trusting relationships within and outside of the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide top quality and timely customer support to our Community Leaders with their financial processes, including budgeting, reimbursements, invoicing and more.
  • Create materials to train and support Community Leaders on finance issues.
  • Automate manual support processes where possible (ie canned responses in Spanish, templates etc).
  • Perform activities of accounts payable in order to ensure compliance with all financial obligations of the company.
  • Perform activities of accounts receivable in order to ensure that all the company's claims are received in a timely manner.
  • Prepare cash forecasts, to detect funding needs or investment of resources.
  • Negotiate banking expenses, insurance and other bank charges in order to minimize the costs of such transactions.
  • Check the accuracy of all documentation relating to payments, according to the established rules and procedures.
  • Support the office lead with office management duties such as managing the relationship with landlord, banks, and others.
  • Control contracts for services, leasing, rental, and long-term financing.
  • Prepare monthly cash flow, profit & loss and balance sheet reports.
  • Perform month end close task to ensure all event finances have been closed properly.
  • Work with and provide monthly accounting documentation to our tax accountant to ensure proper tax reporting    
  • Create invoices in Facturama Platform, rRegister sales and issue invoices to customers.
  • Keep files and records of the company updated and organized.
  • Provide finance updates to the Techstars staff.
  • Ensuring compliance to Mexican and US Accounting.

Qualifications:

  • Fluent in Spanish and English
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience
  • Accrual Accounting knowledge
  • Tax law knowledge in México
  • Previous experience with working with MS Excel/Google Sheets
  • Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects timely & accurately
  • Tech savvy and can pick up new processes and systems fast
  • Excellent Communication skills - written and verbal
  • Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to work well with others in fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management skills
