The Director, Sales Analytics & Reporting will be responsible for multiple aspects of sales analysis, including assessing the performance of priority releases, drawing insights from market, competitor, partner and consumer research, developing new reports, dashboards and methodologies, and overseeing the sales data needs of the label. S/he will be responsible for complex analysis on streaming and digital / physical sales for the US and international territories, as well as strategic analysis on competitive behavior and new business models. The person should not just be able to understand why market behavior is happening with the label’s product, but also make recommendations on how the label can impact that behavior.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the performance of new track and album releases by analyzing consumption trends, comparing to similar releases, and digging into detailed consumer reaction data to help inform sales, marketing, radio, and release planning decisions
  • Perform deep dive analyses to understand the latest trends across the music industry, competitors, digital streaming partners, and consumer behavior and share those insights throughout the label to raise the overall streaming and sales business acumen and help the label stay ahead of the competition
  • Utilize SQL, Alteryx, Tableau, and other internal and external business intelligence and data analytics tools to create new reports, dashboards, processes, and methodologies for assessing track/album/artist performance and uncovering actionable sales and marketing insights
  • Lead a weekly streaming meeting attended by all label departments to review new release performance, uncover sales and marketing opportunities, and share deep dive analyses
  • Analyze digital streaming partner playlist support for priority tracks and develop strategies to improve the coverage and positioning
  • Recommend strategies and timelines for releasing singles and albums
  • Continually monitor label and competitive market share shifts, understand driving forces behind changes, and identify opportunities to grow share and revenues
  • Proactively work with SME’s partner analytics and business development teams to bring their account insights to the label
  • Collaborate with label sales and finance teams to project monthly forecast goals
  • Understand and oversee label daily/weekly sales reporting
  • Address ad hoc sales and marketing analysis requests from labels in a timely and accurate manner
  • Understand data sources and systems to ensure data integrity and report accuracy
  • Interact with IT to resolve technical issues and implement enhancements to sales reporting systems

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6+ years of experience in sales analysis, reporting, and/or finance
  • 3+ years of experience in the music industry
  • Knowledge of music industry trends related to streaming, digital and physical sales, new business models, and the competitive landscape
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Advanced knowledge of all primary MS Office software and advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with SQL, Alteryx, Tableau, or other business intelligence / data analytics tools
  • Ability to communicate effectively and confidently with senior leaders including the head of label sales and label executives
  • Understand how to present data clearly – orally, in writing, and in presentations
  • Be organized and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Have a “customer service” mentality to ensure the needs of labels, accounts and senior management are met in a timely and satisfactory manner

Qualifications
