Director, Pay Over Time - American Express

Job Description

American Express Global Commercial Services (GCS) has a stated ambition to become the leading payments and working capital provider for our Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) customers globally. This includes driving the convergence of our historical Charge and Lending product lines offering each customer business-sized purchase capacity, flexible payment options, meaningful rewards and the powerful backing of American Express.

Pay Over Time is GCS’ largest lending program and a significant revenue driver for the US SME business. As a result of career progression, we are recruiting for a new Director to oversee the evolution of this feature as it becomes embedded across our charge products. In parallel, this team is responsible for driving a net new organic growth strategy. The successful candidate will lead a team of three and work in collaboration with partners in Risk, Marketing, Finance and Charge Product Management to continue the profitable growth of the portfolio. Key responsibilities include:

Define the next evolution of the Pay Over Time customer experience driving closer integration into the core card value proposition and journey

Help drive profitable and sustainable lending engagement on our Charge products

Oversight of the development of new features and capabilities

Strategic leadership of product in line with both customer and enterprise needs

Supporting development of a recession readiness program

Ensuring a strong control and compliance environment

Periodic consulting to international markets

Qualifications

Strong customer mindset and understanding of customer behavior

Demonstrated experience in product innovation & development

Understanding of customer treatments, user experience, and lending economics

Strong financial acumen

Influential and compelling leadership skills across cross-functional teams and competing stakeholder priorities

Previous experience leading teams and driving strong employee engagement, with a proven track-record of developing talent

Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage, influence, and inspire partners and stakeholders to drive collaboration and alignment

High degree of organization, individual initiative and personal accountability
