Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk.

The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem  identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides  an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

Individual contributor generally recognized as a subject matter expert in Wells Fargo Auto compliance risk

  • Responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring risk-based compliance programs to assure compliance with federal, state, agency, legal and regulatory requirements, and providing compliance oversight to a Wells Fargo Auto’s Originations functions
  • Works with Originations functions to provide compliance risk expertise and consulting for projects and initiatives, sometimes spanning multiple business units, to identify, assess and mitigate regulatory risk
  • Works with Independent Compliance Testing to design and develop the most thorough and comprehensive monitoring and testing strategies, methodologies and analyses for Originations functions
  • Evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of Originations functions’ policies, procedures, processes, initiatives, products and internal controls
  • Consults with Originations  functions to develop corrective action plans, and effectively manages change to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Identifies Originations functions’ training opportunities, then designs/coordinates the development of training materials and coordinates or delivers training
  • Periodically and regularly reports findings and recommendations to Wells Fargo Auto executive management and Wells Fargo Compliance.
  • Works with the Compliance Exam Management Team to coordinate examinations of Wells Fargo Auto.
  • Leads project/virtual teams and mentors lower level staff.
  • Maintains an awareness of the state of compliance across Wells Fargo Auto and in the direct and indirect automotive finance industry.  Provides subject matter expertise across Wells Fargo Auto on appropriate and adequate controls for Originations functions. Ensures that all compliance-impacted business issues are proactively identified and addressed appropriately, escalating where necessary.


Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both
  • 2+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: additional compliance, additional operational risk management, IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience; or a BS/BA degree or higher in business or a related field

  • Virtual leadership experience with ability to effectively drive results, provide feedback/direction, and manage and build relationships with leaders and team members in a geographically dispersed team environment


Other Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with overseeing projects/work flow across a global institution
  • 3+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 3+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 2+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both 2+ years of management experience.
