Paris-based loyalty platform Splio buys mobile wallet platform Gowento

Nov. 12, 2018

Splio, the Paris-based marketing automation and loyalty platform, announced that it had acquired French startup firm Gowento, a mobile customer engagement platform that allows the integration of its mobile wallet technology to the combined company, in a blogpost and company release.

Splio said the acquisition comes six months after it rolled out WeChat as a new channel and just a month after launching support for new customer loyalty programs.

"Gowento is already integrated into the Splio customer platform and allows customers to seamlessly add mobile wallets via email or SMS," Charles Wells, chief product & marketing officer told Mobile Payments Today, via email. "Additional features including push wallet notifications from the Splio platform are being developed."

Wells said that all ten of Gowento's employees have joined Splio at its Paris headquarters, and Gowento would continue to operate as "Gowento, a Splio company" for the next 12 months, however that company brand name will be later retired.

Founded by Rabye Marouene, Sebastien Alexandre and Loris Guignard, in 2015, the Paris-based Gowento has expanded to more than 50 customers, including Fnac, L'Occitane and Nicolas, a French wine retailer that is a joint customer of both firms, and has operated in 60 countries worldwide.
