NFC Times Exclusive – A joint venture of Taiwanese banks and banking groups has chosen U.S.-based Mozido to supply it with host card emulation, tokenization and wallet technology, a surprise win for Mozido, which bought the U.S. mobile commerce arm of South Korean IT services firm SK C&C less than a year ago, NFC Times has learned. 

It’s one of a growing number of contracts for HCE and tokenization and one of the first awarded by a banking group that also has set up a TSM platform. 

Mozido, a well-funded but new market entrant in the TSM and HCE supply chain, won the contact over Gemalto, which was believed to have had an inside track, having supplied the banking group, the Taiwan Mobile Payment Co. with the TSM platform. Gemalto was ranked second by a selection committee, sources told NFC Times.
