Honda unveils in-vehicle experience with Visa, new retail, payment partners

Honda has unveiled a fully integrated in-car experience, called Honda Dream Drive through a partnership with Visa, that allows drivers and passengers to use voice-control and mobile technology to buy gasoline, parking or order food and enjoy entertainment features integrated into the dashboard.

After unveiling the AI-based technology, under a collaboration with ConnectedTravel, as a concept at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show, Honda reached agreements with major service and retail partners that will let drivers order a range of goods and services through the in-dash system, including Atom Tickets, GrubHub, iHeartRadio, Phillips 66 and others.

"The in-vehicle payments concept we unveiled at CES 2017 has been further developed into the prototype Honda Dream Drive driver application we announced today," said John Moon, managing director, strategic partnerships at Honda Innovations, in an email. "We spent time working with partners on integrations which are also now incorporated into the application."

Honda has added additional partners for in-vehicle payments, including Mastercard and PayPal, according to a press release.

Honda is offering demos at this year's Consumer Electronics Show using a 2019 Honda Passport, however Moon said the in-vehicle technology will be available to any of its cars that have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
