Ebay is introducing Google Pay as an option on its marketplace platform, part of a plan to enhance its managed payments experience with additional options, according to a company release.

The company is also working on a plan to add PayPal as a payment option, according to a blog post.

Starting in April, Google Pay users will be able to make purchases using the app via desktop or mobile web from sellers who participatein the managed payments program. Customers using the Google Pay digital wallet will be able to complete purchases on the desktop, no matter which operating system or device is being used.

"Google Pay provides users with a fast, simple and secure way to pay online," Alyssa Cutright, vice president of global payments, billing and risk at Ebay, said in the announcement. "Offering Google Pay as a form of payment is another significant step towards providing our customers with more choice in their payment options and providing an experience that is tailored towards their personal preferences."

The eBay managed payments experience allows customers to check out without leaving the platform, and takes into account that digital wallets are an increasingly favored form of payment for millennial shoppers.
