LIMERICK — Two New York men were arrested Tuesday and charged with fraud after allegedly using fake credit cards to buy items at area convenience stores.According to a release from Limerick Police Chief William Albany, police stopped Christopher Idore, of Queens Village, N.Y., and Rockiem Alke-Ryan Taylor, of St. Albans, N.Y., both 23, while driving a Toyota Corolla rented from Hertz that had been last seen leaving Limerick Sunoco where the two had aroused the suspicions of the cashier. The investigating officers were informed the two were making purchases by paying for items one at a time and asking the cashier to ring up each item separately. “The two would pay for those items with a debit/credit card, put it aside, then have the next item rung up,” Albany’s release said. They were purchasing cigarettes and gift cards, according to Albany. The two were allegedly seen at several different Wawa stores prior to the report from Sunoco and the stores were reporting that the credit/debit cards presented were coming up “invalid” or were being approved. Further, different information other than the account numbers displayed on the cards was being displayed on the computers and receipts at the store, according to Albany. “It appeared that the cards were fraudulent as the cards were coded with other people’s information,” Albany’s release stated. When they were stopped, Idore and Taylor “were both found in possession of several credit/debit cards,” the release said. A search warrant was executed on the car they were driving and “a significant number of Green Dot Visa credit cards were located within,” police said. About 19 of the cards “were embossed with account numbers. There were approximately 10 Green Dot visa credit cards that were in packaging. There were also about 15 assorted gift/credit/phone cards still in their packing, a number of small purchases from mostly convenience/grocery-type stores, a GPS unit and a large number of cigarettes,” the release stated.Read It: http://www.pottsmerc.com/article/20120305/NEWS01/120309776/ny-men-charged-with-using-fake-credit-cards-at-limerick-stores
