Since October 2013, Sven Gentner is Counsellor in the Economic and Financial Affairs Section of the Delegation of the European Union to the United States. He deals with EU-US regulatory issues and TTIP negotiations in financial services as well as transatlantic issues in key EU internal market policy fields like public procurement, services and IPR.
Sven joined the European Commission, the executive branch of the European Union, in 2004 and has served in various positions in its Brussels headquarters prior to joining the Delegation in Washington. From 2004-2006 he was responsible for the coordination of the EU-US Financial Markets Regulatory Dialogue, in 2006 he served as a member of the private office (cabinet) of Commissioner Charlie McCreevy, from 2007-2011 he was executive assistant to the Director General of Directorate General Internal Market and Services (with special responsibility for financial services). In 2011 he was also seconded for several months to the African Union Commission in Addis Ababa to advise the AUC on the building of an African internal market. From 2012 to 2013 he was head of unit for human resources and planning in DG Internal Market and Services. Sven started his professional career with Allianz Insurance in Munich where he was executive assistant to the CEO of the Bavarian subsidiary of Allianz plc.
Sven holds masters degrees in economics from Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, Frankfurt, and the University of York, UK. He is married with two daughters and lives in Washington, DC.
Nicole Douglas is a senior vice president and international treasury management sales manager, based in San Francisco. She has been with Wells Fargo since 2006 and leads the team that develops global cash management solutions for companies throughout California. Nicole specializes in innovative banking strategies for technology sector companies especially in the global payments space. Prior to joining Wells Fargo, she worked as a management consultant focusing on developing business and technology strategies for multi-national companies. She has a BS in Finance and Management Information Systems from Villanova University, Pennsylvania and graduated top of her class from Gothenburg University in Sweden with a Masters in International Business. A native Californian, Nicole has also lived in Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Colorado and Sweden. She now lives in Marin County, Calif. with her family.
Peter joined Edgar, Dunn & Company´s San Francisco from MasterCard in London. Peter combines previous experience as a strategy consultant for Edgar, Dunn & Company in Europe with hands-on experience as a senior executive in the payment industry. He has managed the turnaround/restructuring and sale of financial businesses as well as the design and implementation of country and regional strategies.
Before rejoining EDC in San Francisco Peter worked for MasterCard International, London, as Head of Strategy Europe where he was responsible for creating new business models in response to regulatory challenges, building out a European strategy to inform investment decisions, building competitor intelligence and for creating/managing the European M&A target identification process. Before relocating to London, he was Managing Director for MasterCard’s German market operations.
Prior to this, Peter managed the credit card business of Royal Bank of Scotland in Germany and acquired deep retail banking experience as CEO/CFO of Santander Direkt Bank. Before entering the consumer space Peter worked as an international commercial and wholesale banker in London, Singapore, Zurich and Paris in diverse roles from sales, product management, commercial payments, treasury and trade finance.
