US-based Bitcoin start-up Coinbase has raised USD 5 million from investment company Union Square Ventures.
Coinbase provides an online wallet which allows users to store Bitcoin, a merchant platform which enables services to accept Bitcoin payments and an online service which allows individuals and merchants to buy or sell Bitcoin into fiat currencies.

US online fraud prevention services provider StrikeForce Technologies and Solantus, a provider of security technology, have teamed up to deliver to Canadian businesses the necessary tools to prevent cybercrime.

The head of Google Wallet, Osama Bedier, has quit after two years in the job during which the mobile payments operation has failed to take off.
In a statement confirming a Venture Beat report, the search giant says Bedier has "decided to leave Google this year to pursue other opportunities," adding that "he's achieved a lot during his time here, and we wish him all the best in his next endeavour".
