Global financial services provider Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BofA Merrill) has launched Cuenta Controlada (Controlled Account) services in Mexico for MXN and USD transactions.
The new offering is an addition to the suite of transaction services available to clients operating in Mexico.
Cuenta Controlada regulates the exchange of cash among multiple parties based on agreed upon contractual provisions as specified by a client. Bank of America Merrill Lynch acts as an independent third party to receive, hold and subsequently disburse the funds.
International secure mobile transactions technology company C-SAM has closed a partnership with mobile commerce services provider TrustNordics to enable organizations to target that installed base by developing and launching NFC-enabled wallets.
The partnership’s initial solution is a wallet platform featuring C-SAM's NFC-based transactions technology and TrustNordics’ Service of a Trusted Execution Environment Service to enable mobile applications for smartphones such as Android, BlackBerry, iOS and Windows Phone. TrustNordics will serve as the wallet’s Trusted Service Manager and offer the wallet under its own brand or on a white-label basis to merchants, financial institutions, non-payment service providers and other organizations. The wallet includes features that enable applications such as payment, access management, loyalty programs and ticketing.
Awareness of contactless mobile payment points and symbols amongst consumers has more than doubled from 15 percent to 39 percent in twelve months, a recent report has revealed.
According to the latest Mobile Payment Index results from research firm eDigitalResearch, whether a user of contactless payments or not, awareness surrounding the technology is on the rise. As more and more brands and businesses, as well as handset manufacturers, begin to invest in the technology, it is not surprising that awareness amongst consumers is starting to grow.
Direct Payment via ACH is the leading method consumers use to pay their bills. More than three-quarters of billers that offer electronic payment options provide Direct Payment via ACH, and now, almost 50 percent of consumer bills are paid through this method. Forty-two percent of consumer bills are still paid through the mail and 11 percent are paid with credit/debit cards, a recent study has revealed.
According to a study released by NACHA – The Electronic Payments Association, billers prefer receiving ACH payments over cards 48 percent to 21 percent. Specifically, billers prefer recurring ACH payments, citing this option as the most favorable payment method. Consumers, on the other hand, prefer one-time ACH payments for bill pay. Of the 47 percent of consumer bills paid via Direct Payment, 25 percent are one-time ACH payments, 11 percent are recurring ACH payments, and another 11 percent are ACH payments originated by biller service providers.
UAE-based financial institution Mashreq has launched an enhanced version of its mobile banking service dubbed Snapp currently available on Apple and Android phones.
Customers can access Mashreq Snapp using their MashreqOnline username and password. There is no requirement to register separately for mobile banking. This mobile banking application will provide customers with access to their bank accounts from their smartphones. Non-Mashreq customers will be able to view product offers, locate nearby restaurants, Mashreq branches and ATMs without having to log in.
EFT Source, a provider of card programs and personalization services for ATM and debit cards for financial institutions, has unveiled that financial institution Centier Bank has launched its patented instant issuance solution dubbed Card@Once.
With Card@Once, Centier’s customers walk into a branch and receive an active payment card. When a customer requests a card, the data is securely transferred from the branch location to EFT Source. The data is immediately processed and converted into an encrypted print file that is sent back to the branch electronically. Card@Once encodes the data and prints the card allowing the customer to walk away with a ready-to-use, active debit card.
